Uryu has challenged Ichigo to a fight – the one who kills the most Hollows wins. But he did it by calling forth all the hordes of hungry soul feeding Hollows down on Ichigo’s town and now Ichigo’s friends are in grave danger! As Ichigo fiercely battles to get rid of the monsters and stop Uryu, Rukia, ignorant of what is going on, races to find the cause of the numerous Hollows suddenly appearing, and Ichigo’s friends are facing the Hollows on their own with no Soul Reaper to help them!
If you haven’t picked up Bleach yet, this is the time. The excitement packed in every volume is intense, immense and exhilarating. The story has fantastic animation, thrilling action and more intrigue than you can shake Ichigo’s big sword at. This one volume is a perfect example. In only four episodes you have pivotal moments, stunning battles, creative spiritual abilities, danger and mystery and much, much more. Orihime, the quiet and shy classmate of Ichigo’s who has had such a tragic past, learns of her own spiritual abilities when she and her brave friend Tatsuki are attacked. This phenomenon is very unlike the abilities of Ichigo, Uryu, Rukia or anyone else seen so far in the anime. Then there’s Uryu and his story which is told via flashbacks. The reason for his deep seated hatred is revealed. These aren’t even the most exciting stories yet, as the big secret Rukia has been hiding is finally unveiled after she is ambushed by two Soul Reapers who have one goal: to bring her back to face justice at the hands of the Soul Society. And on their way, they want to kill Ichigo first! Each volume has some new piece of the world of Bleach fleshed out for viewers. With this new turn of events of Rukia at the mercy of her fellow Soul Reapers and Ichigo on their hit list, the show adds to the thrills and the interest is teased ever higher. We are given a bit more information about the mysterious Soul Society. The two Soul Reapers, temperamental Renji and aloof Byakuya, are warriors to be wary of. It also gives the anime an opportunity to show off some great new character designs with these two new Soul Reapers. Their presence leads the story to another edge-of-your-seat cliffhanger as Ichigo faces off against the two Reapers who want him dead and to bring Rukia back to face a possible death sentence. This time, Ichigo may be outmatched and outgunned. This volume also introduces viewers to a new ending theme song. Not beautifully haunting as the first ending theme, instead this song is more along the high-tempo lines and music stylings of the opening. EXTRAS: Bonus feature include a sticker sheet, production art gallery, manga previews, clean ending animation, and trailers of other anime titles from Viz Media’s Shonen Jump video line. IN SUMMARY: Bleach has it all – action, suspense, mystery and a supernatural world to be explored filled with danger and excitement.
