Could there be more than one Eyeshield 21? That’s the question you will be asking yourself throughout this volume. It all starts when a player on a rival team claims he met the real Eyeshield 21 while he was an exchange student in the United States of America. Back then, this mysterious other Eyeshield 21 was on the Notre Dame feeder football team. But now this individual has arrived in Japan, and he’s planning to play during the fall season. Questions and worries start to arise – who will come out of this conflict on top? Which Eyeshield 21 will prove to the league that they are the one and only?

The antics continue throughout volume thirteen of the series, still bringing home everything readers have come to love about Eyeshield 21. The humor is still thriving with lots of over the top visual gags and goofy characters. The art is still frantic and detailed – the sports action portions being some of the best. When a game is being played within the story, the visuals seem to be rushing right off the page – it’s all very dynamic and therefore really well done. Another point that still adds some extra entertainment to the manga are the info snippets provided throughout the book. Whether it’s character profiles, explanations of words or jokes, or just an added little side story, these additions bring so much more value and insight to the final product. Some of the best extras are the short four panel jokes at the back of the book. They often make fun of or parody different popular anime and manga series, something that most readers will get a real kick out of. One in this volume is called “The Devil Bat Pirates” and is a really well executed parody of the anime and manga series “One Piece.” Eyeshield 21 always has a lot to offer, allowing the reader to get more out of their book as well as enjoying the replay value that such additions bring to a manga.

IN SUMMARY:
For the sports fan and for the reader who enjoys a huge helping of wacky humor, Eyeshield 21 delivers that and more with every new manga released.
