You have to sacrifice …if you want your dream. - Hideki
Hideki! Say it isn't so!!! Nevertheless, it is true! Forget what you have learned from the previous episodes, forget about the formulaic story pattern of the show because these last four episodes are intertwined together, and humor and songs are accompanied by shattered dreams, delicate moments, and a parody of a famous pop star.
Hideki's dream of building a dome is at his grasp, but not without a price, as he cavorts with Donabenabe, a tabloid and baseball team owner, namely the Cleavage Giants. Mako buddies with a well-known big bad thrilla-thriller king of pop named Yukel Hakushon, to build a dome with Ichiro in mind, and our boy girl Ichiro clings on to a childhood dream that all of them promised that they would work hard to achieve.
However, our sexy police babe Yukika is on to something, as she suspect that Donabenabe and Yukel Hakushon is up to no good, but by the time she figures what's happening, the Prime Minister of Japan is already hovering above Nerima, bent on a hostile takeover to do a major face lift of the city. Outnumbered and out-gunned, the Nerima Daikon Brothers and the Yukika, who decide to be an integral part of the group, and a whole lot of pandas decide to stand firm and battle the prime minister at ground zero – Hideki's daikon field.
Hold on to your hats, as this is what Nerima Daikon Brothers is building up to. The episodic nature is out the window as the series suddenly throws in a curve ball to touch more than humor. It pushes itself well to the edge as it parodies a renowned power broker and king of the Japanese news media, Tsuneo Watanabe, the former prime minister of Japan, Junichiro Koizumi, and of course the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, which was parodied wonderfully by Mike McFarland. OW! There are tons of references among the three villains of the show, but of course, Yukel Hakushon steals the show when it comes to parodies. As always, there are tons of sexual innuendos and funny lines, a few other surprises, a new techno track, and the rental guy doing a number. Carli Mosier, who lends her vocal talent to Yukika, brings her character to life throughout the series, as if she were born to play her character.
EXTRAS: Clean Opening and Closing Animation. More commentaries from Nabeshin with Ayano Matsumoto (Mako), live video of the Money Dancers, a Sing Along option, DVD Credits and ADV Previews. ADVid-Notes will come in handy this time to give you a quick background of Donabenabe and Prime Minister Ooizmi.
IN SUMMARY: Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa! A very edgy entertainment show. Narima Daikon Brothers pushes the envelope of anime comedy with its musical wit and over the top lines, and it is one of the best comedy series to come out in recent years. A series that will be hard to topple from everyone's favorite list!
