Have you ever thought to stop to consider my feelings! - Teletha Testarossa Tempers flare, feelings of loneliness and doubt, and an uncertain future are cast over this third and exciting volume of Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid. Upon his arrival at the Mithril Pacific Fleet base, Sousuke reported to a petulant Capt. Testarossa for his new orders, as he must now devote his time to master piloting the only Arm Slave that is equipped with the Lambda Driver in Mithril's arsenal, an assignment that he is reluctant to accept. Still, his unwillingness and lack of better judgment to see the current situation forces Tessa to open up his feelings with anger towards him, as he still feels that "Wraith" is just a mere observer and doesn't give Kaname adequate protection if she is in danger. However, things went from bad to worst for Sousuke, as he was challenged to an Arm Slave duel by his new commanding officer to see he what he can really do with Arbalest and the Lambda Driver. Back in Japan, Kaname is getting paranoid and suspicious about her surrounds knowing Souseke is no longer there to protect her. Still feeling that someone is watching her, Kaname takes it upon herself to confront her observer, but her actions lead to an altercation with Yu Lan, who is bent on killing her, and a brief encounter with Amalgam's Leonard Testarossa, who proclaims that he is in love with her. While Yu Lan is busy with Leonard Testarossa and his human-size Arm Slaves, her twin sister continues to wreck havoc in Hong Kong, causing tension to the peace treaty between North and South China, and Mithril is forced into action. While on their way, Souseke takes refuge inside his AS, but only to be informed by the artificial intelligence that he is part of the Arbalest system faiure, as he is an integral part of the machine. As if things couldn't get any worst, the confounded Souseke almost jeopardizes the entire search operation for the renegade AS, due to his lack of focus at the task on hand. Feeling that his team would be better off without him, he decides to leave the mission. Though there isn't much action and explosion in this volume, FMP!TSR OPS 3 firepower focuses on the emotional facet of the show, where emotions runs high, and the situation is dim for Mithril, as they're now encountering enemies that are superior as them. With the introduction of Leonard Testarossa, one can assume that there are more hard challenges for Mithril, while Souseke's departure puts his team in an uncertain scenario. For the hapless Kaname, all she can wish and think of is Souske being there for her protection, but at the same time she decides to stand firm and put up a fight. EXTRAS: As with the previous volumes, Audio Commentaries with the Japanese cast and crew gives their insight with the show, part 4 and 5 of the Hong Kong location scounting, textless songs of the opening and closing theme, and FUNimation trailers. IN SUMMARY: Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid is more than just action, as explosions of feelings and emotions makes up for the less action oriented part of the story, giving the anime depth and setting up an exciting conclusion.
