"The world is rotting and the ones who are making it rot deserve to die."

In the deepest darkest recesses of the shinigami world there is talk of Ryuk's visit to the human world and the fun he had there and one particular shinigami decides to go to him and tell him all about his exploits. Bored with the world he lives in he could not blame him for wanting to do something other than the norm. Ryuk, for the price of an apple tells him of Light Yagami a human who picked up the Death Note book he dropped outside his school. The story moves on as Light finds out more about the book and Lights battle with L, the mysterious investigator who manages to find out where he is just from making a broadcast in the Kanto region of Japan. A large part of the series shows all the murders Kira has committed during his time around Ryuk.

Death Note: Relight takes the viewer to earth to witness the actions of Light, though it cuts out several details that would have made the story drag on too long, though this is just enough for the viewer to be reintroduced into the full story. Ryuk has without realizing it broken the law of the shinigami by letting the book fall into the hands of a human due to his being bored in heaven with nothing more to do than enter the names of humans into his own note book. Ryuk establishes himself as a renegade who doesn't care who he offends and has the ability to control the actions of others. For example had Light not found the death note he would have followed in his father's footsteps and become high up in the police force has he had the high intelligence to go far.

The story will still intrigue others who watch it as there are key points that make it un missable. The characters Light, Ryuk and L are all completely different personalities. Light and L are both considered genius level as far as intelligence is concerned and battle it out to see who comes out the winner. But for all Light's genius he does let L know that he is Kira without realizing it early on in the investigation showing he has less common sense than most.
