Being only a two-volume series, here we are at the end already! Yuiko is an animal lover that has bad karma with nature’s furry friends. But with wild child Leo, it’s nothing but love! He will go bestial if she gets threatened but is otherwise as innocent and fun loving as a kitten. With a birthday coming, assassins on the loose, and a choice to be made, it all gets laid bare in the final chapter. Leo’s eighteenth birthday is around the corner and with it, Yuiko at last learns about his full past. Toki tells her about the death of Leo’s mom and the grandfather that left Leo everything…on his eighteenth birthday. This act of generosity made Leo a target for all his ill-meaning family and so he’s been hidden in jungles and wild kingdoms ever since. It all catches up to him today! A car accident might not be so accidental. Having nearly lost Leo, Yuiko gets that much closer to realizing her feelings for him. But first she’s taken hostage as a pawn to force Leo to sign his wealth away. A big rescue leads to the revelation of a long lost family member. Now Leo has a choice: to go abroad with his family which will leave Misao but leave her safer without him, or stay, bring danger into her life but be with the one he loves. Decisions, decisions. It’s a tough one and there is a tear jerking parting between the two, not that it lasts too long. Choices are made and the couple finally has that first kiss. Although the story ends pretty much at the halfway point of the book, it’s not over yet. There is a heartwarming and funny chapter that covers Leo’s love confession to Yuiko. It is followed by a bonus story that is totally off kilter but so sweet! A girl with a cactus yen fights like cats and dogs with her childhood friend-now-enemy Kaito. It really just hides the fact that she likes him. But a special cactus finds the boy trapped inside the prickly plant and a ghost of a woman now in his body! It is now up to Akira to help the boy she secretly loves and aid the ghost of Atsuko in order to see a spirit rest in peace and return the boy to the aggravating person she’s known for so long. But when a few revealing moments occur, it could change their relationship forever. It is a quirky romantic adventure that manages to tug on the heart strings and tickle the funny bone.
IN SUMMARY: The off-beat romance comes to a suspenseful end in this final volume! |
