The great race is on. In the skies of Piffle World, the qualifyingrace finishes, and the final is begun. With all four of our heroesplacing well in the qualifier, it is only natural to assume they willdominate the final. At least, until a series of sabotages leads to therace becoming very dangerous for everyone involved, especially Sakura. Tsubasa volume 11 picks up right where volume 10 left off. The twentyentrants for the final race are quickly decided even among a completedisaster wrecking many of the racers. One short party (and drunkenSakura) later and it is time for the main event. There is a slightproblem, however. The dragonfly race has been sabotaged. Each obstaclethe racers come across malfunctions, creating a legion of troubles forthe heroes, especially Sakura. As the race goes on, Tomoyo switchesbetween video-taping Sakura's performance during the race and speakingto her subordinates about who or what is harming the race. Unlike thelast volume, there is no world-hopping this time around, so the readerhas no jarring change in setting. This also provides a respite fromthe story's reality of world-hopping in place of a very high-action race. There is even more fanservice present for the Cardcaptor Sakura fans,as Tomoyo spends most of this volume obsessing over Sakura, her chosenracer. In addition, Sakura's low tolerance for alcohol provides alittle more humorous entertainment in very quick order. Humor isrestricted mostly to these two instances, as the rest of the volume istaken up by Fai, Syaoran, Sakura, and Kurogane making their greatestefforts to win the race, and Sakura's feather. The typical slick CLAMPdesigns are still present, and many CLAMP afficionados will still beable to spot a number of new CLAMP cameos, whether they be fromearlier in Tsubasa, other works, or both. Del Rey packs their standard extras into this volume once again(honorific dictionary and culture notes), and not much else aside fromads for the Tsubasa CHARACTer GuiDE (crazy capitalization theirs) and Gundam SEED. IN SUMMARY: Tsubasa volume 11 is yet another fantastic installment in CLAMP'snewest series, and a fantastic starting point for those who may notwant to purchase the previous ten volumes.
