Nora, an unruly demon, has defied his Dark Liege one too many times. For the sake of his "education," Nora is sent to live among mortals and enters a bond of servitude with cool-as-ice star student Kazuma Makkari. Kazuma is about to learn the ways of the underworld... and Nora will learn more from the "real world" than he ever thought possible with the help of his new human “friends!” In volume seven, the underworld is in chaos! The Resistance, led by Fall, begins its siege on the Dark Liege's headquarters. Due to the immense power Fall gained in his encounter with the previous Cerberus, the Dark Liege faces a tough battle indeed...and as Nora and Kazuma rush to aid her, each must struggle with his own inevitable role in destiny. The action is frenzied in this latest volume of Nora – never has the series showcased such bruising action and fight scenes as it has in this one. Things are really coming to a peak point of turmoil and destruction as the Resistance lays siege to the Dark Liege's headquarters in hopes of destroying him forever. The art really shows off all the artist can do with dynamic fights and tense action. The humor in the story takes a bit of a break for this more than serious volume, but the change of pace is much appreciated. The artist/author shows a lot of learning and personal improvement with this volume – obviously their skills are improving with each story arc, and it’s directly affecting the goodness of this series. The story is fast paced with a lot going on at any particular moment – there’s no need for any kind of attention span with this book because it moves along at a reasonable speed at all times. The plot is made easier to understand by the large text size – it is very readable and much appreciated. This is another quality Shonen Jump title that will appeal to many readers, especially teenage boys. The extras include some four-panel cartoons, and some advertisements for other Viz Media titles available for purchase. There is also a great section of rough character design art that is sure to entertain – it’s neat to see what the artist’s preliminary thoughts were when dealing with the characters. A little bit about the author never hurts, so here’s some information about him. Nora: The Last Chronicle of Devildom is Kazunari Kakei's first manga series. It debuted in the April 2004 issue of Monthly Shonen Jump and eventually spawned a second series, Surebrec: Nora the 2nd, which premiered in Monthly Shonen Jump's March 2007 issue.
IN SUMMARY: Nora: The Last Chronicle of Devildom is full of action and inter-dimensional adventure that is sure to keep readers on their toes. This volume packs an especially wicked punch, and thus is not to be missed by anyone! |
