The Queen of Yaoi, Kazuma Kodaka (author of Kizuna), graces readers with this enthralling tale of samurai, bandits and passionate love in the feudal Japanese epic Midaresomenishi, an all new and exciting gay male romance.

Shirou is a handsome and skilled samurai with fiery red hair and a lust for blood that gets him exiled from his family. His ties to his younger brother are strong though, and while being escorted out from the village, his beautiful younger brother Fujimaru joins them only be attacked by a large band of ruthless bandits. Taken prisoner, Shirou must choose to submit himself to the bandit lord Sougetsu’s every perverted whim in order to spare his brother. Forced to endure years of sexual subjugation of every kind, Shirou devises a plan to free his brother and escape the thrall of Sougetsu. What he could never have anticipated is the how it would all turn out as desires are twisted with revenge, and love finds a place in the most unexpected of hearts.

A thrilling samurai epic about obsessive desires of all kinds, this is an erotically thrilling feudal story. It’s quite different for the typical yaoi in looks as Shirou is a very masculine man, muscled, aggressive and violent. He is not the regular looking type of “uke” that is normally seen in this genre of manga. The story goes deep in to the sexual perversions of the ”seme” Sougetsu and his twisted subjects. Although this does contain many scenes of forced sex acts, there is a surprising love story within it held with the secondary characters of Fujimaru and Saizou. The story also manages to come across in many ways like a feudal action with the sword fights that occur, particularly during the first bandit attack. The attack of Sougestsu’s right hand and main lover, Renka, is a vicious and well drawn one.

A curious thing about the story is that it covers many years but not clearly enough for it to be known exactly how much time has passed. We see a lot of changes happen with characters but aren’t necessarily shown the full progression. The author’s talent in imparting the impression of the changes however, makes that progression not necessary to be so drawn out and readers will find themselves taken on a very fast paced erotic action adventure which holds quite a bit of drama, violence, and with at least one particular couple - love. It is hard to say if Shirou has fallen for his beastly master. Sougetsu is amoral and an evil man who relishes rape and murder. He is responsible for the fate of Fujimaru as well as years of humiliation suffered by Shirou. It would perhaps be more correct to consider that Shirou is under a sexual thrall through his years of being the sex slave of the bandit lord. In either case, the story is involving and yaoi fans will thrill at the numerous explicit sex scenes and titillating subject manner.

IN SUMMARY:
Midaresominishi: A Legend of Samurai Love is a fiery yaoi story about sexual subjugation, revenge and forbidden desires.
