For fans that didn’t want the double feature release but would rather pick and choose their favorite DBZ movies and specials, here is your chance! FUNimation is now releasing the movies in singles, starting with the History of Trunks and Bardock. Trunks gets his own story showing an alternate reality where Goku has bit the dust permanently. Trunks is best buddies with Goku’s son Gohan, but the Earth and its denizens live in a world of hurt. Androids 17 and 18 were never defeated and have chosen the Earth as their personal punching bag. The two friends try to fight the good fight but when one of them goes down, possibly for good, a trip to the past might be Trunks’ only hope for the salvation of all mankind! It’s great DBZ action with a big tip to the drama. The alternate future is harsh and it explains a lot about Trunks’ soldier mentality. There are stupendous combat sequences and you can bet your manga collection that there will be some Super Saiyan powering up happening! The look of the special is top notch. The anime was digitally restored with a widescreen transfer from the original Japanese film. The animation is clean, the lines are crisp, and the colors more vivid than ever before with the flecks kept down to a minimum. The sound got the remastered treatment as well in high definition and digitally restored for 5.1 English voice track with the original Japanese music, and the original Japanese dialogue with original music too.
EXTRAS: Extra punches to this release include trailers of other FUNimation anime titles.
IN SUMMARY: It’s the smash hit TV special about one of the DBZ’s favorite heroes – Trunks! |
