Tsukune was kept from being a ghoul by the power of the seal given to him by an exorcist, but it may not be enough to help him stay with his vampire love Moka – especially when she’s trying to kill him!

The monstrel Mako has taken over Moka.  Tsukune can’t hurt Moka and he doesn’t understand why she’s trying to kill him. She can’t stop herself and its only after Tsukune is attacked by a bunch of students under the monstrel’s control that he puts two and two together. But the aftermath isn’t enough to save his relationship with Moka. She stays away from him because she fears his being around her is what gets him hurt. She can’t save him from her so she plans to take herself out of the equation. It devastates Tsukune (and Moka) but that’s all well and good for Kurumu who thinks this is the perfect chance to win over the boy!

Kurumu can be a single-minded monster girl. She wants to win Tsukune’s heart. Things get complicated and deadly quickly when a monstrel named Kiriya promises to help her - for a price. She has to lure Moka out to a spot to get killed and then her final obstacle will be in out of the way. But can Kurumu do such a ruthless betrayal?  The end will prove to be a bonding moment and a friendship solidified even while a rivalry continues and Cyclops attack!

The monstrels continue to be thwarted, but this might be their winning hand when they find a monster to kill Tsukune. At the same time, there’s trouble between Moka and Tsukune. No sooner had they made up when suddenly Moka is fainting around him, getting paler and Tsukune can barely keep his teeth off of her. Despite the seal he’s beginning to crave her blood. Next thing he knows he’s being attacked. When Moka tries to save him and gets hurt, Tsukune losses it and his vampire abilities come out to kill the creature, but at what cost to his humanity?

The mystery about the seal is soon discovered when Tsukune is sent to the principal’s office. He meets the headmaster and that’s a shock. The second surprise is that the seal is cracking and it is only a matter of time before he looses all control. Tsukune gets expelled just when the group known as the anti-schoolers, a group that is against Yokai Academy’s desire for peaceful coexistence with humans, attack. Again Tsukune must release some of his vampire powers to risk becoming a ghoul in order to save himself and Moka. The end result is a reversed expulsion on one condition and one condition only – Tsukune must agree to take on the dangerous risk of being on the festival committee and assisting the diabolical headmaster. Can the human whose humanity is barley holding on risk it? Or will he choose to be away from Moka forever? The decision for him is a no brainer, but sinister things are afoot, and one of them seems to be the headmaster!

Manga extras include more mini-monster encyclopedia, four-panel comic theater and a preview of the next volume.
