Yoh may still act aloof but he is stuck on Haruna. The upcoming sports festival proves that and then some. He never liked being the center of attention or anything. But when it came time for people to say where they wanted to be placed, he chose to be a rooter (cheerleader) because he thought that was what Haruna would choose. But she chose to be where she thought he would choose so a mix up happens that is cute and funny, showing that they both are goofy on each other. However, in all the excitement of the festival, things are learned and a challenge is laid down for Haruna’s heart in the latest volume of High School Debut! When it comes time for voting for their grade captains, both Haruna and Yoh get nominated. When Yoh wins for his grade, they have little time for each other with all the work they have to do for the festival. Haruna still finds time to get into trouble though. When she stumbles on some muscle jocks scheming to cause Yoh trouble she busts in without a second thought! She’s fearless (or thoughtless) when it comes to her personal safety. She feels and acts first, thinks much, much later. During all their time apart, Yoh’s friend Asaoka seems to find all kinds of time to spend with Haruna. He’s always there when she needs someone. It’s too bad that no one will buy her a clue to the fact that he’s making a move on her! Yoh notices and it gets him fired up! Asaoka pushes the envelope to the point where Yoh finally steps in (unknowingly to Haruna). He tells Asaoka to step off but Asaoka instead lays down a challenge – the man to get the most first place wins at the sports festival wins Haruna! Yoh, the laid back cool guy who always acts disinterested in everything now has to find his athletic spirit in order to keep the girl he cares for. And Haruna doesn’t have a clue!
