Last volume had the big student council shake up and Amu getting her Guardian X Egg switched with Utau! Well, things have not slowed down for the council with their very first challenge in volume 5 turning out to be how to care for a newborn baby!

Yaya invited the council over to have their meeting at her house. She had an ulterior motive though, she needs help to care for her brand new baby sister. No one in the group is comfortable taking care of a little baby, but some rise to the challenge while others falter. Yaya has a predicament. She’s not keen on all the scene hogging her new sister is doing with their parents. She’s jealous. Amu comes to the rescue, relating her own story of new sisterhood. But when the baby gets a fever, everyone panics with the exception of one person. Can you guess who it is? The answer might surprise you!

Babysitting shenanigans aside, the next chapter focuses on Rima. She’s pretty, seems spoiled and can be devious. But in this chapter we learn all about how lonely and painful a life she has under the polished façade. When her Guardian transformation is uncovered, it’s a shock to everyone but it might turn out to be the best way for Amu to get closer to the lonely girl.

The big double story is saved for the last half of the book. First, Tadase and Amu go out on a date! Okay, so she insists that it isn’t one really but honestly, it is. They go out shopping, buy ice cream together and there’s a lot of blushing on both sides. Could romance blossom? It might have if it hadn’t been interrupted by a certain sexy cat boy. Ikuto shows up when Amu is alone and in typical fashion, does some salaciously suggestive things. Tadase and Ikuto end up in a bit of a row for it but the main focus isn’t on either of them. Instead it’s about the spy who’s been following Tadase and Amu from the start of the date! Kairi was ordered to spy on them and find out their Guardians’ weaknesses. But during the observation of the date, it’s crystal clear that Kairi is falling in love with Amu! That puts him in quite the pickle. He works for his sister at the Easter Corporation but he seems to be getting awfully attached to you know who. Trouble is brewing!

That trouble doesn’t take long to find them all. A suspicious Wish CD that supposedly grants the wish of whoever hears it is the rage of the town. But this one comes with a catch – it puts whoever hears it under hypnotic compulsion! Soon everyone’s walking around like zombies and their eggs are being turned into X eggs. Only Amu is unaffected and reacts, battling in her own special way to save everyone, including her prince! At the very last page we find out exactly who is behind the CD and who the singer is! Worse trouble is on the way and I don’t think Amu and her friends are prepared for the upheaval in the works.

The manga also comes with translation notes and a bonus story about Amu’s sister Ami being home alone and the endearing trouble she gets into.

IN SUMMARY:
A new rival for Amu’s heart may be lurking in the shadows and the hunt for the Embryo Egg just got stepped up with a devilish new plan by the Easter Corporation!
