The death of Yamanami has left the Shinsengumi with a heavy heart. Kamiya in particular mourns his loss, he was very much a father figure to her. She watches over his tombstone and has an encounter with Saito. Saito has been acting strangely lately and his words at the grave only fuel Kamiya’s curiosity and worry. It is Soji who gets to the bottom of the matter, as much as Saito will let him.  But the pall of the loss of the captain is a heavy burden born by all of them.

There is no rest for them though. Only a little while after that they are told they have to move the Shinsengumi headquarters and that they only have two days. The place erupts into chaos. Finally some of the members find out why they have to move and decide on a special tactic, using an unknowing Kamiya to face the monk responsible. It has a rather funny turn around at the end of the chapter and despite the loss of the captain, much of the volume is quite lively with comedy.

A bit of drama and jealousy arises when Sae knocks on the doors of the Shinsengumi looking for Soji. Kamiya fears that Soji will go to Sae, the woman she believes is his first love. She doesn’t even fully realize her feelings. Meanwhile Soji tries to avoid the matter until Sae’s persistence raises a well of concern in him. He goes to speak to her privately and her request is one that startles him.

Things return back to normal despite the move and Kamiya and Soji are having their usual silly spats. The Shinsengumi must deal with another matter before leaving Mibu – they must settle their debts. The writer has a lot of fun showing the various personalities at play regarding the money and who owes what to whom and the story ends on a cheerful note as the Shinsengumi relocate.

IN SUMMARY:
A funeral, the return of a lost love and a sudden move has the Shinsengumi in an uproar.
