Zero and Yuki share an awkward moment due to his hidden feelings for her coming out. But how does she feel about him? She seems to constantly be pulled in by Kaname, willingly so, but at the same time will sacrifice herself for Zero. Torn between a vampire hunter turning into a vampire and the vampire who saved her, Yuki falls deeper down the rabbit hole when she finds herself the secret guest at a gathering of the noble vampire bloodline. Just what is happening behind closed doors with the vampires? It’s all here in the latest riveting volume of Vampire Knight!

Yuki helps a strange lost boy at night and ends up falling unconscious and waking up in a bed watched over by Kaname. She must at all costs remain hidden at their vampire soiree because if she were to be found out, she would be the main feast! However, she sneaks out and spies a beautiful pure blood princess with Kaname. Yuki turns away, hurt, perhaps jealous. But she is only human so what can she ever prove to be to a man born a vampire except to be his next donor? He asks her the question she has been longing in her heart to hear. But what will he do with her answer?

Intrigue runs high in the vampire court and outside of it as well. When Maria Kurenai wakes up, she has much to reveal that only deepens the mystery surrounding the tragedy and blood feud between Shizuma and the Kiryu clan. Someone behind the scenes has been pulling the strings. This person is the real enemy of Zero and of the purebloods.  In the aftermath, Yuki makes a startling confession to Zero and he in turn makes an ominous vow to her.

Confused and lonely, Yuki wonders about her family and it begins to torment her with ragged fragments of blood and horror in her elusive and lost memories. In search of answers, the two of them along with the headmaster go the vampire hunter society headquarters. Even there danger is waiting around every corner. Should Zero be discovered that a vampire has turned him into one of their own, his fellow hunters will hunt him! The book they locate only deepens the mystery when it burst into flames. They leave with more questions than answers but they have learned a little more, including some of the headmaster’s background. It also puts Zero in a terrible position when he is told that the one and likely the only way to prevent his descent to a Level E monster is to drink the blood and a pure vampire – the blood of Kaname the vampire Yuki loves!

The vampires spend their school break at Aido’s family home. However, it too is laden with peril, particularly for Kaname. Aido recalls how he first met Kaname and the tragedy that made him silently vow to always protect his friend. Not all the vampires have such resolve. Senri went home for his break and it shows an unsettling scene. His father has awakened and the Shiki family has a sacrifice they will demand of Senri which could spell doom for Kaname and all those close to him.

IN SUMMARY:
Vampire Knight is an enthralling supernatural tale that keeps getting better and better with every volume!
