Sakurashin is a unique town where humans and demons live together in peace. But an evil rival mayor, a mysterious man, and all of their forces get leveled at the town and its current mayor! It puts the town at a crossroads where they have to decide to back their young mayor Hime or go up against the ominous threat looming over them!

It’s a pivotal volume of this ever intriguing manga series.  With the loyalty of the townsfolk in question, Hime begins to doubt her worthiness as their mayor. When she learns the truth behind the Seven Pillars about to bloom and what that will mean for all the demons in the town, she is upset at being kept in the dark. But it is nothing compared to the secret that they all learn about Hime, a secret even she did not know.

The enemies strike and strike hard. They make an ultimatum to the town to surrender and have Hime transfer her position over to them or else.  They level a barrier that dampens the powers of all the demons. With Hime injured and her power hindered it is up to the others to try to fight the impossible odds facing the town. Battles ensue and each member shines as they fight a losing battle while they search for the source of the barrier in order to destroy it. Naturally all roads lead to Tokyo Tower. There a fight begins and in desperation, Hime joins the fray in order to save the people she loves – the entire town. That is when she undergoes a startling change and the true form of the Dragon Spear is revealed. Her enemies have called down the thunder, now they’ll have to face the lightning!

The manga ends on a dramatic moment and pivotal scene in the battle. With the latest revelations that have been unveiled, it will be interesting to see the fallout that will occur let alone the outcome of the fight at hand. There are many aspects to this story on several levels, emotional, psychological, dramatic, action, suspense, mystery, that it is a hard to pin down the story. It isn’t simply any single genre overall, but incorporates aspects of many and does so successfully, smoothly and with great storytelling skill and style. It is a must read for fans who want something different and substantial in their manga reading.

Manga extras include a bonus manga, short comic panels, translation notes, character sketches with bios, the lyrics to the town song, and a preview of the next volume in its original Japanese.
