The Comte de Saint Germain is locked up in the Bastille. But if that’s true, how is it that he’s walking amongst the various people outside of his cell? He goes to meet Sophie’s mother and Emma, the twin of the poet Ange who was killed by Lia. He each offers them a warning and a 'gift’. One sinks into despair and fear while the other goes through a startling transformation in the latest volume of Le Chevalier D’Eon.

Saint Germain reveals his connection to the poets, the king, the Tarot, even the building of the palace itself! This mysterious character holds the key to many secrets. Emma now has gone up an echelon of the ladder in order to get vengeance for her sister’s death. To do so she has become the Tower, the card of absolute destruction and chaos within the Tarot. Her sister’s spirit is now her Daemon as a huge crow.  But she’s not the only Poet D’Eon and the others must be wary of. Douglas has been targeted by another poet, Candide, who has a fearsome Daemon known as the Juggernaut. It is a giant maw of endless teeth that can bite through and consume anything, whether it’s walls, bars, or Douglas! He must not only use his considerable strength but also his wits in order to try to evade the poet’s attacks. When all seems lost, it is a most unexpected person who saves Douglas.  Emma, one half of the evil twins again made whole through the magic of the Poets, has come. But what does she hope to gain by saving Douglas, the ally of her enemy?

She confronts Lia the Sphinx and their exchange again shows the resolve both Lia and her bother D’Eon have to find the truth. Emma lives to fight another day. Meanwhile within the palace lies one truth for certain – the creator of the Psalms is within the actual palace itself! Just who is it?

It’s more enthralling supernatural mystery in the latest volume with many interesting and unexpected turns. It also holds the regular manga extras including translation notes and a preview of the next volume in the original Japanese.
