Bandai Entertainment announces public screening in high-definition of Gunbuster The Movie and FREEDOM on December 14.
November 14, 2008 (Cypress, Ca) – Bandai Entertainment Inc. announced today that it will be showcasing two of its new blu-ray releases from their HONNEAMISE label with a free public screening of the Blu-ray discs in high definition at the Downtown Independent (formerly ImaginAsian Center) in downtown Los Angeles. To coincide with the event, Bandai will be holding it’s first ever “Black Sunday” in the lobby where the company’s line of anime DVDs will be sold at a highly discounted price just in time for the holiday season. The event will occur from 12pm to 4:30pm in the theater lobby and auditorium. The feature presentation in the auditorium will be a free screening projected on blu-ray of two new HONNEAMISE titles in TrueHD5.1.
At 1pm, GUNBUSTER THE MOVIE is a feature version of the classic OVA series. As humanity sets out for distance space, a squadron of Machine Weapons is created to combat the onrushing opposition of the Space Monsters! To avenge her father’s death and to win victory for all mankind, Noriko Takaya, scouted for her potential, joins her “Oné-sama,” Kazumi Amano, aiming to become an elite pilot-a “Top”! The film as well as a feature version of DIEBUSTER THE MOVIE and GUNBUSTER vs. DIEBUSTER: Aim for the Top! The GATTAI Movie will be released on blu-ray on December 9th from Bandai Entertainment under the HONNEAMISE label. From 2:30-3:30pm, FREEDOM is set in the 23rd century -- mankind has fled earth and emigrated to the moon. The last outpost of civilization is the Lunar Republic of Eden, where the omnipresent Guidance Council grants residents everything they need. But, what do you do when you discover everything you believe is a lie? A single photograph with an inscribed message found inside a rocket launched from Earth leads a group of young men to question the Council ruling the seemingly utopian city. But to what length will they go to discover the true meaning of Freedom? The series is currently available on blu-ray from Bandai Entertainment under the HONNEAMISE label.
