The battle with Sasori and the loss of one of the Sand shinobi leaves a somber group of Leaf Village ninjas’ home with heavier hearts but a new lead. They have a chance to find out who the Akatsuki spy is in Orochimaru’s camp. If they get there in time then they might be able to find out where Sasuke is! Naruto still intends to save his wayward friend, whether Sasuke wants it or not! But he’s about to go into the lion’s den to do it!

Returning to the Leaf Village, Naruto and Sasuke reunite with a lot of their friends that they haven’t seen for nearly 3 years. There’s Shikamaru, Choji, Shino, Ino and don’t forget about sweet Hinata who’s all grown up now (almost). It’s a cool moment to see them all together again and see how much everyone has changed but are still close pals. The good times aren’t going to last though. Naruto and Sakura have a new mission, to go find out who the spy is and retrieve Sasuke with the information they get from spying on the spy. But they’ll need two new members with Kakashi in the hospital and Sasuke of course persona non grata. But the new team leader is someone weirdly familiar but not. He’s an odd duck that’s for sure. But he’s also a Black Ops just like Kakashi was so he’s a serious shinobi not to be underestimated. The other member though really raises eyebrows – and tempers! Sai is completely without emotion, cold, calculating, he rubs Naruto and Sakura the wrong way big time and tempers break. He badmouths Sasuke – wrong move new guy! How is this new team going to complete their mission when they can’t stand each other?

Like most things in Naruto, not everyone’s how they first seem. And it seems Sai has a lot of secrets. There’s something painful in his past that Sakura is trying to figure out. But the worrisome thing is the secret mission he was given. Considering the elders went and tried to make Tsunade give in to their wishes regarding Naruto and she refused, I can’t help but think there’s dirty dealing going on behind Tsunade’s back, and possibly means sticking a shiruken in Naruto’s!  When the team finds out who the spy is it’s a shock. But they’re not the only ones waiting in the shadows! A big bad villain is close by and he looks like he’s about to strike!

IN SUMMARY:
The team returns for some fun times with old friends but it doesn’t last long! Naruto, Sakura and their new teammates go in search of the spy and Sasuke, and danger is about to strike!
