Love goes bananas on Valentine’s Day for Haruna and her monkey boyfriend Macharu. Okay, he’s not really a monkey but he sure resembles one and he’s ten times as cute! V Day is a big day especially at “Monkey High”. When Macharu gets chocolates left on his desk and it’s not from his girlfriend Haruna, an all out investigation gets underway! And Haruna isn’t as confident as she seems. It really worries her that some other girl may have left him chocolates. But this isn’t the only brouhaha in the school. The student council had some of their chocolate go missing and their on the hunt to find out who! It’s a whole lot of trouble for some extra calories if you ask me! Finals ended without a hitch (so unlike V Day) and everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. A least until they start second year. But Haruna and Macharu are worried that they won’t be able to have classes together next year and worry about getting separated. They both get picked to host and arrange the advancement party for the class but its Haruna’s birthday. Awwww! She doesn’t like celebrating her birthday and she’s all alone except this time around she will be crowded by an entire class of noisy monkey like students at her place. It will be up to Macharu to figure it out and save her day! The sweet tidings between these two only get more rollercoaster stuff happening when Haruna’s former underclassman arrives. Chika has a big time admiration thing for Haruna and Chika is plenty peeved to find out her much looked up to Haruna is dating basically a monkey looking like guy. In order to prove himself Macharu challenges Atsu to a basketball game. It gets pretty intense. And Haruna doesn’t understand the male pride thing at all! Macharu is really pushing himself but he wants to prove himself to his girlfriend. What a guy! Chika stirs up more trouble, unintentionally, when she pushes Haruna to run for student council. Haruna doesn't want to. She doesn’t want the attention and it brings back bad memories of what it was like at her old school when her dad was charged with stuff and his political career hit the skids. Plus it would mean less time with Macharu. They end up working things out together and its super sweet with a funny twist at the end.
IN SUMMARY: Valentine’s Day detective work, birthday bashes, and love misunderstandings jump around like monkeys in the latest manga volume. It’s always a barrel of fun in Monkey High! |
