Three tales of hidden love, buried desires, and romance are found in the stand alone anthology One Night Stand! Comedy and angst mix it up for timid hearts, bold confessions and racy seductions to take place in the different stories to enjoy here! The first tale of love gone wrong is about a model and a photographer. The model is smitten like a kitten for his photographer bud. But he’s afraid of his handsome apple of his eye finding out. So he puts on a bland face and pretends to not care. Things get sticky when these two have more problems because they live together! Ack! Plus when he’s worried that his crush will notice how he really feels with that photographer’s perceptive eye, a rival photographer shows up to outdo the man the model loves! Can either of these two men read beneath the surface? Vanity meets pride and gets stonewalled by true love in this story that has comedy and a sweetheart moment. The second story (and longest) is about two young and beautiful men that couldn’t be more opposite. Ryu is dark, poor and has that street edge look to him. Sakura though is all proper and polished with fair looks and smooth ways. They hate each other. At least that’s what Ryo thought. They fight for the top spot in all the exams. But a run in that leads to a racy moment between the two changes everything for Ryu – but now he has to figure out if that was really Sakura! He was so different in personality. Could it be a twin? A cousin? A look-a-like? Maybe an alien? It has Ryu’s head spinning and every time he gets near Sakura his hearts pounds! This becomes one odd love triangle that they’ll hopefully figure out. The last and funniest tale has a supposed straight boy transferring to an all-boys dorm. He’s short, cuter than anything, he’s so precious! And he’s been given all sorts of tales of terror about getting ravished by the other guys. But then he ends up bunking with an older classmate who happens to be the most sought after and most handsome guy in the entire school! It makes short and kind Chihiro’s life a living hell. He has to deal with being the envy of all of Ren’s admirers and therefore all of their anger too! Plus Ren hangs off of chihiro at every opportunity. But he’s straight right? Chihiro thought so, but then again he thought he was too and now he’s having all kinds of dangerous yearnings towards his roommate. Throw in a romantic moment where they play piano tougher, a silly misunderstanding, and a searing kiss…oooh la la! This was my favorite of the three! The art is sexy and sweet. Just the right combo of both. And gosh the guys are good looking, especially Ren! There’s explicitness but nothing overly overt if you understand what I’m saying (wink). The manga is primarily romantic with a humorous appeal and a touch of angst and raciness for yaoi fans to enjoy! Plus the manga has a hilarious bonus story that has all three couples mixing it up interacting together and an even funnier afterword from the mangaka.
