There is a new threat at the school Kazuki is at first unaware of as he finds his school friends having their bodies drained of essential energy. Papillon fights with his grandfather only to find out there is another who shares his passion for change using the power of alchemy. Victor was the one who tried to use his power to excel himself to greater heights but his whole body was destroyed in a power struggle with others who wanted the power for themselves almost a hundred years ago, until his grandfather found that he could restore Victor's battle damaged body until he was completely healed.

Hurt emotionally and angry at all those who use alchemy, Victor lashes out at Kazuki and Tokiko, Tokiko amazed at the sight of Victor as she has never seen one like him with light fluorescent blue hair and reddened, hulking body, but as the uses his own Buso Renkin, Fatal Attraction, their confrontation is in vain as Kazuki ends up dead at his hand, but not before he gets up for another fight, this time summoning his own black Kakugane which makes him resemble Victor in hair and body, ready to take him on.

Kazuki has now realised what he must do and in general what his mission is, but he is not himself completely in this second series, and the viewer will wonder what is going on when he uses his new kakugane - the one given to him by Tokiko some time back. It has the immense power he needs but will she regret giving him such power in the first place.

This and other questions the viewer will ask themselves during the riveting watch before them. Victor is a powerful looking foe for the two of them, but as is normal in this particular anime the enemies all exhibit a look of beauty as well as menace. The Papillon character has evil intent yet he has the intense beauty of the insect he represents.

As this was based on the original manga, the anime version has managed to keep the interesting and colourful elements of the manga and made it a fun and instantly captivating series that will capture the hearts and minds of young people everywhere.
