Hikaru is now a pro Go player and it’s onto the Shinsedan Series where new pros must play veterans. His first game proved to be with Akira’s dad, Toya Meijin! With Sai hungry to play a formidable opponent, Hikaru makes the ultimate sacrifice and allows his ghostly mentor to play the man. But with a handicap to start with, even Sai may not be able to beat this fearsome opponent! Later when Hikaru hears about the Rank Promotion Tournament he plans to attend and participate in order to advance as a pro player. He sees Toya there and is happy to tell Akira that he has come all this way as a player in order to meet him again sometime across a Go board. But Akira freezes him out! What is up with the younger Toya? Hikaru soon finds out when he hears that his first match is with none other than Akira! At long last his dream to play the other boy as an equal is about to come true. But tragedy strikes. Akira’s father lands in the hospital and the game is postponed. Upon hearing this, Hikaru is crushed, but Sai is insistent that they go to the hospital. There, a candid discussion occurs between the Meijin and Hikaru. He almost reveals Sai but instead makes something of a challenge to the veteran player – play a Go match online against Sai! This plan to appease both Sai and the seemingly honorable Toya Meijin is dangerous. Other people are interested in discovering who the online “Sai” really is. And some of those people might go to surprising lengths to find out. The game begins and more and more people are tuning into the match to find out who will win while others are hurrying to try to track down this “Sai” and expose him! There’s also a catch to the game: if Toya Meijin loses, he’ll resign from playing Go ever again. But should he win, Hikaru must reveal Sai’s true identity!
