“The Bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame.”

Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing has a weapon who can fight against any vampire, and the village of Chedar is becoming overrun with the unnatural un dead creatures lately, and Integra tells of him – Alucard, an agent who works for her elite organisation, though he is not human – he is a vampire but a much better, more powerful one. For what better to kill a vampire than one who knows all about them and their weaknesses.

The vampires they hunt are not ordinary, as any human bitten by a vampire in this anime becomes a ghoul-like monster who feeds on others like a zombie, infecting the village if not kept under control. It is more serious though if a vampire bites a virgin of the opposite sex, a new vampire will be born and the situation becomes worse.

The Hellsing Organisation is on hand to provide help to eliminate the vampire threat to quash the vampires or any other satanic or occult threat, and another is allowed into their fold, Seras Victoria, a girl whose friends were killed by the vampires, leaving her the only one who could live – but at a great price.

The threat of vampires is one of the main issues, yet Hellsing have been noticed by the Catholic Church as a problem, and feel as though it is their duty, not Hellsing's to rid England of vampires. Though the vampires have set their sights on Ireland and leave very little time to spare. The Iscariot Organisation have sent their best agent, the Palladin, Father Alexander Anderson, who Integra knows well, his name striking fear into her heart, for if he finds the girl and Alucard, they could well be in grave danger.

Based on the comic by Kouta Hirano, Hellsing: Ultimate Volume 1&2 will be coming to DVD in October as a two disc release featuring the first two volumes of the popular four OVA episode series. Unlike the previous Hellsing series, this one 'Ultimate' promises to be more like Kouta's earlier work.

IN SUMMARY:
Hellsing: Ultimate has it all – cool characters, witty dialogue, and excellent animation. This is close to the knuckle stuff, gory and bloody it will make viewers wince at the detail of decapitations – no one will ever see any thing as good as this in a long time.
