The penultimate volume of the most ruthless ninja epic is at hand. With the numbers of both deadly ninja clans dwindling rapidly, the most lethal warriors face off in duels to the death, using every technique they have in their arsenal. However, this battle is about to have a new player enter. Ofuku, godmother to the heir of the shogun, has chosen to interfere in the battle between clans in order to secure her godson’s path to power. As she meets with the blinded Oboro, does she plan to help the Iga clan or doom it? Riveting violence, engrossing agendas and suspenseful action all combine for an unforgettable manga series. Building up to the climatic finale, we have some of the most pivotal fights in this volume. It seems to be boiling down to just a matter of time until the star-crossed lovers, Oboro and Gennosuke, will have to face each other in one final and bloody confrontation. The emotional undercurrents the writer injects into the story makes the battles that much more grueling and merciless. These aren’t simply one-dimensional figures facing off in supernatural fights to the death. They are given emotional depth and humanity to add to the tragedy of their fates. Manga extras include a full color cover page in the original Japanese, translation notes, and a preview of the final volume in its original Japanese language. IN SUMMARY: The penultimate volume of Basilisk has some of the most pivotal and ruthless battles yet as political players make their move and the members of the clans are left desperate and dwindling in numbers. The path to survival is bloodier than ever. |
