Company to deliver manga and light novel series through its new online web magazine starting in October.
Square Enix to start a new online manga magazine called Gangan Online in October. The first online issue will include a line-up of seven titles, including three light novels and the latest work from Hiroyuki Eto (Kitakita - tentative title), who is famous for Mahojin Guru Guru, and another new series from Akira Kojima, who is known for Mahoraba. Other listed in the line-up are gaiden (side) stories and illustration related to the five manga titles such as Kuroshitsuji, Shikabane Hime, and Tentai Senshi Sunred.
Square Enix currently publishes a total of 12 manga / magazines, and plans to port the manga authors’ popular titles from paper-based magazine into their new online publication. The company also plans to promote and cultivate new writers of novels and light novels who publish works on its web magazine as the company has no paper-based magazine for this category. While web magazine has not achieved great success in the past for instance, Comic Seed! Being discontinued and SoftBank Creative’s manga delivery website was incorporated into Yahoo! Comic under the new name of FlexComix Blood, publishing and online publishing companies has showed interest on how Gangan Online will attract readers, and how it will develop its business
