Your favorite samurai are back and as badass as ever! The complete two-volume manga series based on the killer hit anime is here! It was wicked to revisit these cool cats. The manga takes off similar to the anime. It shows cutie pie Fuu intent on finding the samurai who smells like sunflowers. To help her in her search because it’s just not safe for a girl to wander around all alone in feudal Japan, she enlists the help of sword swinging, sake guzzling and all around unkempt hot head baddy Mugen. But trouble hits them fast (or are they the trouble?). And soon they have another sword hand handy – Jin. He’s cool and methodical with his sword. He’s neat, tidy, and polite, at least to a point (or at least if he’s not killing you). He’s the complete opposite of the always disrespectful couldn’t care less Mugen. And naturally they hate each other on first sight. In fact, they want to kill each other! These two sword wielding nut cases want to do in each other. But before that they have a little itty bitty job to do – help Fuu find the sunflower samurai. Of course, they also have to dodge the law, some thugs hot on their tails, conniving females, shifty citizens and more! Just like the anime, the manga is fast paced, it’s hoppin’ and rollin’ and hittin’ those fun beats mixing up comedy and action champloo style! But it shouldn’t be thought of as a strict representation of the Champloo anime. It is full of original stories and takes some different adventures than what we’ve seen in the anime. You can expect female assassins, an invincible Russian swordsman, a well mannered killer with a samurai hamster, plus what you never would expect in Samurai Champloo – a zombie story! The manga has it all! What you can expect along with the rip roaring bossa nova groovin’ samurai action is kick ass art to go with it. The characters look like the jumped right out of the anime and onto the manga pages! The manga art has that same free-stylin’ groove as the anime with the characters flinging themselves (usually Mugen) and everyone going all out. All sorts of interesting shady characters to make you go “hmm”. The manga is as much fun as the anime and a must have for any Champloo fan!
IN SUMMARY: It’s the wicked cool entire two-volume manga series of the anime turned manga in the complete collection of Samurai Champloo the manga! It’s more hip hoppin’ sword slashin’ fun with your favorite rebel samurai! |
