Shinobu Kaitani’s baseball manga, “One Outs,” adapted to an anime series and set to broadcast in October

Originally published by Shueisha’s Business Jump from 1998 to 2006, the story revolves around the professional baseball circuit in Japan that will depict tension-packed scenes that will offer viewers unprecedented psychological scenes of the game, thus making this series different from other conventional baseball series.

When Hiromichi Kojima heads to Okinawa for a voluntary rehab assignment, he meets Toa Takuchi who gambles in the game of baseball called “one out,” a game were  a pitcher and a batter make a bet at a single at bat. Toa, a legend and undefeated pitcher in the game, lost to Kojima in a single at bat. Kojima, who has not been to a pennant in his career, urges Toa to join his team. From there, the dormant Lycaons team who has never moved out of the B class baseball steadily transformed itself to a perennially team.

Madhouse will animate the series, with a production staff that includes Yuzo Sato (Ultmiage Survivor Kaiji and Mahjong Legend Akagi), and Hideo Takayshiki for its musical composition.
