Madman Entertainment (Australia) announces KARAS - available March 7
MELBOURNE, Tuesday, 20 February 2007 – Tokyo, a city populated by both humans and demons, existing across two dimensions. The borders between these two worlds have long been patrolled by the Karas (guardian demons). However, becoming disgusted with humanity’s arrogance and apathy, one Karas turns its back on the laws it had previously upheld, leading a group of mechanised fiends in an assault on the human race. Meanwhile, a detective named Kure, who works at the police division in charge of supernatural incidents, opens a case involving a series of bizarre murders that look like the work of a water demon. The fourth highest-selling anime DVD in the US last year, Karas features an all-star US cast, including Jay Hernandez (Hostel), Matthew Lillard (Scream) and Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly). Appleseed fans will relish in Karas’ amazing hybrid of 2D/3D animation, not forgetting this series also marks the 40th anniversary of Tatsunoko Productions, creators of Speed Racer and Battle of the Planets! Karas V1 is the first of two volumes in this OVA series.
