Life for young Lucy Snow, the only normal girl stuck at an elite school for budding evil scientists, has been one horror after another. Trapped at the little school of horrors, brave Lucy is going to use all her courage and intellect to find out what’s happening to the children who are sent to the Windmill, never to return. With secrets mounting and dangers lurking, Lucy is going to need all her smarts and courage and more if she hopes to save the other children, let alone herself, from the terrors of the Hollow Fields! It’s a very engaging fantasy adventure with a good dose of creative originality thrown in for good measure. Lucy, with the help of the talking cube, does her best to excel in the weird and wacky classes she must attend. In her attempts to figure out the mystery of the missing children, she also tries to make friends – with disastrous results! One keeps pushing her away and one of the top students sees Lucy as a rival – one to be eliminated at all costs! Lucy will soon find her ingenuity saving her from one fire only to throw her into catastrophe where she’s sentenced to the Windmill, from where no child has ever returned. The excitement is doubled in this volume when the origins of Ms. Weaver, Hollow Fields and its monstrous staff are revealed. It doesn’t give away all of its dirty (and frightening) secrets, but it certainly offers a good dose of the background and some of the major mysteries are unveiled with the bigger ones still frustratingly out of reach. The volume also has cover panels, Hollow Fields School files, and an alternate flashback sequence.
IN SUMMARY:
Dangers abound as the horrors of Hollow Fields begin to be revealed! Lucy is in the greatest peril yet!
