The Pirate King’s legacy has now been revealed, that was the easy part; the hard part is now upon the crew of the Coyote, as they have to find a way to get to Planet Graceland without being detected or being chased down by Lady Marciano and the 12 Sisters. But the crew is running out of time as Graceland is about to be become space debris. The second volume starts with plotting and scheming on how the crew of the Coyote can get to Graceland without wasting any precious time, and to achieve their objective, the crew must use a “warp gate” facility near a star system before their treasure gets blown into oblivion. Now the fun and action begins as the crew goes incognito to get into the warp gate facility, but their little masquerade doesn’t fool Lady Marciano who is once again hot on their tails. Inspector Angelica is also tuned in with their every move and all of a sudden their well thought out plan becomes a bust as Lady Marciano and her android interfere and manage to get the upper hand. Mister’s luck seems to have run out. At the end, the crew is now in a desperate situation as the clock has dwindled down to its final hours. Now their plans have changed, not only do they have to get to Graceland just in time to save the treasure, they have to stop the bombing of Graceland. To the overly optimistic Mister, the game just got interesting. While the second volume of the series manages to keep the intensity of the first volume, one thing is for certain, Coyote Ragtime Show is not your ordinary run of the mill sci-fi action anime. The series continues to come up with great character interactions, and you’ll even find yourself liking the bad guys. It still manages to find time to add some emotional factors within its high caliber action that the show produces, as Franca is still unsure of the true objective of Mister when it comes to her well-being. Moreover, throw in another mystery as the trigger-happy inspector is unable to fire a shot when she comes face to face with Mister, which begs the questions of who is Mister to Angelica. EXTRAS: More production artwork is in the second volume and the usual Clean Opening and Closing animation with ADV Previews and DVD Credits. IN SUMMARY: Pulse pounding, thrilling, and exhilarating, this is anime at its best! |
