Enter a world of fantasy, adventure and danger.  The land is overrun by the corrupt clergy who torture and burn innocent women as witches.  Only one man and a lady fair stand for true justice.  A squire with dark skin who is no stranger to oppression has taken on the name of the Black Knight.  With the help of the scantily clad and self-professed “true” witch Euphemia, they travel to stop the blasphemy of the clergy and to save the innocent.

Knights is high action-adventure with a bit of grit and an involving world of dangers and conspiracies.  The Black Knight Mist gets put on the Church’s most wanted when he interferes in their ruthless plan to sacrifice an innocent girl for their unending greed for land and power.  It will bring him into contact with Nina, a young woman who does not fear his dark looks or consider him kin to the Devil.  She believes in his pure heart and will follow him anywhere.  But that part might bring her into even greater peril that the witch hunts!

Sadly Mist and Euphemia cannot always save the day.  Clergy who have killed enough “witches” then become “Saints”.  These Saints are people who are no longer human, monstrosities with inhuman powers.  Mist is a skilled swordsman, but he is only a man.  As their enemies draw nearer, can Mist and Euphemia achieve their goal of breaking the Witch Hunt once and for all and survive?

Strong action and absorbing storytelling highlight the action-fantasy.  It also holds brief moments of ribald humor with the nearly naked Euphemia and her unique way of “subduing” her male attackers.  There are interesting secondary characters and the mystery behind those working in the shadows that adds a suspenseful quality to the manga series.  Being only two volumes long, it promises to be an intense story in the second half.

The art is outstanding.  The main character designs are immediately attractive.  The sword fighting sequences are well crafted and exciting.  The manga also has a full color cover page as well as a bonus comic panel on the front and back covers underneath the dust jacket.

IN SUMMARY:
Knights is a thrilling fantasy action series with swordplay, witches and powerful foes.
