It’s Taikobo against Bunchu and Daikki’s pulling the strings! A ruler is on his last legs and the lines of the battlefield are about to get some serious do-over as the lines get tighter and the sides get chosen – for better or for worse! The most recent volume doesn’t just have the battles and a leader at death’s door, it also has two major back stories to both Bunchu and Daikki. We get to find out why Bunchu is so dedicated to his corrupt country despite his hatred for Daikki. It seems the big bad is kind of noble after all. Too bad he’s one of Taikobo’s biggest enemies! And we also get to see how Daikki got to worm her way into the imperial palace and get all the greedy power she has. She is one twisted creature. Speaking of her twisted deeds (remember when she fed the leader of Seiki, Lord Sho Ki, his own son?). Sho Ki never recovered from her tender mercies when he was at her court. He can’t keep anything down. And it’s no wonder. But he needs to try to keep his kingdom safe and so extracts a big promise from Taikobo, making the young hero vow to defend Seiki. Meanwhile Daikki skillfully pits both sides against the middle, forcing Bunchu to set Choka against Seiki. War is about to break out and it is already turning ugly before it even begins! The manga also has all kinds of bonus goodies. There are Paope Power Data, Secret Characters Encyclopedia, Deciphering “Hoshin”, a Hoshin Engi Rank File, Magical File and Immortal Files. Wow!
IN SUMMARY:
Bunchu and Taikobo duke it out and are pitted against each other as others pull the strings in the latest volume. Hoshin Engi is cool and gripping fantasy action!
