Saya and Red Shield infiltrate the conservatory, looking for her pops.  But daddy issues are the least of her problems in the next 5 episodes of Blood+ the anime!

She finds her dad but too late.  Anyone bitten by the bloodsucking, shape changing Chiropterans will become on of the monsters themselves.  Only Saya’s spinal blood can kill these creatures stone cold dead.  That means that if her dad or brothers get ‘tainted’, she’s gonna have to cut down her own family!

The harshness doesn’t slow down.  The violence hurtles on like a freight train.  The gang finds a link between the monsters, the US military and … Saya.  It leads them to a psycho-slaying Scooby gang and an elite school for girls in Vietnam.  An elite school in a spooky gothic castle in the Vietnamese jungle isn’t suspicious?  It’s totally unholy red flags time.  But Saya is acting like she has blinders on.  She’s making friends, acting all girly, and still isn’t buying the clue that she obviously isn’t human.  Of course something’s up and a strange ‘Phantom’, haunting the halls, wants the old Saya to awaken – so he can kill her!  She’d better get her slaying groove on because this Phantom can make mincemeat of Hagi!  And when the class goes on a school trip to an old war museum, the Phantom might get his wish when photos of war footage awakens bloody memories in Saya.

There’s bloodshed complete with thick, wet plopping sound effects.  All kinds of yummy horror goodness.  But the show seems keener on drama than action.  There’s big, heavy, awful stuff with Saya’s human family situation.  When she leaves her brothers behind to go to Vietnam, Kai and Riku are in hot pursuit.  My question is, how are these two kids able to gad about the globe after their killing machine of a sister?  They are total cannon fodder – and Saya’s last link to humanity.  They get involved in their own adventure.  They meet a sickly girl, learn a little about how the ‘other half’ lives and get closer than they realize to the ties that bind Saya to all this war torn badness.

EXTRA:
Subtitles: English and French

IN SUMMARY:
Saya suffers a huge loss in her quest for the truth.  It’s a dramatic action horror – thick with blood, thicker with tears.
