An erotic tale of danger and betrayal set in the future, Steal Moon promises to be another searing and absorbing yaoi from beloved mangaka Makoto Tateno. Nozomi has grown up street tough and as beautiful as he is savvy. But this street fighter meets his match one night against the mysterious, dark and handsome Coyote. Not only does the man steal his title as undefeated street fighter, he’s also stolen Nozomi! The fighter finds himself having to pay his debt to Coyote in a 24/7 cyber peep room that has anyone at anytime watching him do everything and anything. There is no privacy, no freedom, and his only way to pay his debt is to find a way to get as many hits as possible in order to pay back the amount he lost in the fight. And as tantalizing as all this sounds, this is only the cover story! That’s right, there’s another reason Nozomi is there and as Coyote slips him the answers between racy moments between the two men, Nozomi finds himself falling deeper into a plot and a world he knows nothing about – and falling in love with the enigmatic Coyote. Nozomi finds he may be the key to a secret organization’s plan to break free of society’s shackles. But with it he also finds danger as Coyote takes him outside the city to gang war infested areas, ancient computers, and deadly rivals. Nothing is as it seems and in the heady mix of secrets and danger, Nozomi may be falling in love, not with his rescuer, but with his enemy. Sexy, thrilling and riveting, Makoto Tateno’s new manga is as engrossing and scintillatingly erotic as her famous Yellow manga series. Steal Moon promises thrills and danger as well as an absorbing sci-fi mystery. There are interesting secondary characters, including a rival gang Coyote and Nozomi find themselves needing to ally with that has a handsome leader and alluring right hand. The art is just as erotic as ever and the science fiction aspects of the story only help raise the bar for the voyeuristic titillation of cyber peep rooms, sexy gang members, and secret agents. The conclusion to the first volume holds quite the twist to the end and the art style beautifully exemplifies Nozomi’s turbulent state and shock.
IN SUMMARY: Steal Moon is another achievement in Makoto Tateno’s impressive imagination. A striking sci-fi tale filled with danger and suspense, it will appeal to fans of Yellow let alone any fan of thriller based yaoi. |
