In order to save Ramses from Nefertiti’s clutches, Yuri has made a desperate gamble.  She’s raised the insurgents who chafe under Nefertiti’s callous rule to overtake Thebes.  Bloody rebellion has overrun the streets, giving Yuri the diversion she needs to raid the palace.  But will she get to Ramses in time to save his life?

Yuri once again displays how well she’s matured from the high school girl in modern Japan suddenly whisked away in time and place to ancient Babylonia.  Years here have passed and she has matured into a determined young woman and brilliant military strategist.  She uses all of those hard won skills to save Ramses and go up against the fearsome and cruel Queen of Egypt.

The plan leads to a shocking find, concrete proof of Nakia’s betrayal of the Hittites.  The problem is trying to return to Yuri’s beloved Kail and the Hittites with both the proof and their bodies intact.  With Ramses in love with her, in a land on the brink of rebellion and chaos everywhere, Yuri’s goal to return home to her lover and her adopted homeland still retains many dangerous obstacles. Not the least of those is a leader of the insurgents who is convinced Yuri betrayed them.  Now he follows her trek back to Anatola in order to kill her for her presumed betrayal.

By the end of this volume, Yuri finally reaches home, only to find that Kail has gone to war against the Egyptians.  She races to reach him and the manga leaves the reader on the precipice of Yuri and Kail finally being reunited --- a Yuri about to face untold tragedy.

IN SUMMARY:
The latest volume of Red River holds epic battles, a sly wink at actual history and a possible long-awaited reunion for Kail and Yuri.  It’s a sweeping epic adventure of grand proportions.
