The king’s mistress, Madame de Pompadour, has been kidnapped by murderous twin Poets. Lord Douglas is one of the first to feel the sting of the tongues of the twins. Joined by Robin, Comte Saint-Germain and Lia as the Sphinx, they are about to confront the most deadly trap yet in the latest volume of Le Chevalier d’Eon! The would-be rescuers find themselves trapped by a deadly circular poem. To escape they must unravel the lethal riddle, and do so in time to save not only themselves but the damsel in distress. It is during this trial that Lia is overcome by an unknown anguish tied to her shrouded past and the secret of her murder. She is driven to save those at the hand of the evil Poets while she also searches for the answer of who killed her. Her achieving a new rank during the battle puts fear in the sinister hearts of the Poets and their masters. They have now changed their goal to stop the Sphinx and end the threat she poses to their Machiavellian plans. They react in greater force, determined to stop the Sphinx and take her poems and her life. But Lia and her brother D’Eon have a new revelation to contend with when they discover a spirit turned into a demon. The implications for Lia’s ghost and D’Eon’s all too mortal life loom in the closing of this volume. Manga extras include translation notes and a preview of the next volume in the original Japanese.
