New version of the movie includes added scenes and remixed 6.1 musical score and sound.
Ghost in the Shell, which was released in 1995 has been revive and will return to the big screen on July 12 in a limited number (5) of theaters in Japan. The new version will include renewed added scenes and new 3DCG and digital cuts, and it is titled Ghost in the Shell 2.0.
Among to renewal is the musical score which was remixed to a 6.1 channel by Kenji Kawai, and Randy Tom, who won an Academy Award for Mr. Incredible, is the sound designer for the new version, and the final mix was done by Skywalker Sound, a division of Lucas Film, LTD. The news comes as a surprise to Oshii’s fans as everyone is looking forward to his latest animated feature film, Sky Crawlers, which is schedule for release in August.
