Others’ dreams can prove to another’s worst fear, and some nightmares can pale beside the reality they create.  All of it feeds the tragedy and fragile triumphs of those who go to the Nightmare Inspector.

A Baku who must feed on nightmares, Hiruko has memorable clients enter the Silver Star Tea House.  The first in this volume, and one of the most striking tales, involves love between two people who never met.  A lovely girl dreams of the high life with her uptown beau --- a boyfriend she has yet to meet.  Narcissism and self-serving goals could turn this dream of love into horrific devastation.

Human vices are nothing compared to the bad dreams of a ghost.  The Nightmare Inspector has some of the most unique clientele.  Ghosts and even those not quite human find their way to the Nightmare Inspector’s door.  What also stands out in this mesmerizing manga series is how every story has a completely unexpected twist at the end of the tale.  Think of this as the M. Night Shyalaman of manga.

There are a couple of revealing moments involving Hiruko.  A nightmare leads to a world of dreams at Delirium.  It is a place where dreams are made real – for a price.  It’s owner, Kairi, appears to know Hiruko.  What past might they share?  Also of interest is the arrival of a new tenant at the Silver Star Tea House.  Hifumi is a boisterous newcomer who is constantly demanding answers and unintentionally prying open half-closed wounds.  This chapter reveals the tragic origins of Hiruko as the Nightmaare Inspector and the burden he and Mizuki share.

IN SUMMARY:
