"This isn't just a hentai manga. It's about love, sex and how-to...I wrote this with the hopes that it would serve as a bible to those who dream of having the best sex ever." - Katsu Aki. It should be wedded bliss for newly weds Makoto and Yura, but when it comes to them getting ready for their first night of love-making they both have a closely kept secret - they are virgins! Makoto tries to create the right mood for their first night of passion, and constantly agonises over how good he will be when they finally make love.
Yura is just as agonised and nervous of her first time with her husband, and none of them have told each other they are virgins as they are in their twenties and find it embarrassing for them. Both want the night to be a success, yet Makoto is eager to do the naughty, pleasurable deed and comes across a problem he never anticipated. Hilariously funny, well presented and illustrated, Katsu Aki uses his knowledge and puts his skills to great use with his first volume of Manga Sutra, the extravaganza fresh out of Japan and also the number one best seller there. Part graphic manga, part instruction manual on how to make-love, it is informative, shows positions, diagrams, statistics and notes on love-making techniques that make this manga essential reading.
It would be difficult to term this hentai illustration as the sex in it is relevant to the novel itself. The two characters are sent on a journey of self-discovery where sexual pleasure and experience can be all theirs if they throw caution out of their lives, and do what feels right for them both rather than feeling awkward and embarrassed in the bedroom, rushed or pressurised.
Among their new friends, Rika Kawada provided the voice of reason and experience for Makoto as they talk about what makes women tick. While Makoto's friends are envious of his choice of beautiful wife, Yura's are jealous she has got married at all, and even more astonished to find out she has not had sex before when Rika has already managed to notch up thirty guys on her bedpost to date! With intimate advice on love, and tips from the best, who are in the know, it would be hard to go wrong with this manga. It would be also good to assume Katsu had a great time composing this piece judging by its nature and the use of skill with light and tone on the images. He easily conjures the emotions of the characters and gives the reader plenty pf humour and fun. One-liners are in the story rather than making it a formal sex manual. Manga Sutra has enough content to be a sure fire winner. It is a novel of sensuality and opportunity to make sex much better for both partners.
