The girl who fell in love with a boy who looks like a cute monkey can’t say no to him and a first date it is! He takes Haruna to a theme park. But with pushy guys hitting on her, a scuffle, and their classmates showing up, will this date ever get off the ground? Macharu is such a fun loving and considerate guy though, that if anyone could save the day, he can for his girl. Monkey High continues with the sweetness and the surprising amount of angst in the romance. The wacky continues when they get Haruna, ever so reluctant, to enter as a team with them in a trivia challenge to raise money. But during that time her estranged father is released from custody and comes to visit. It sends Haruna out in the cold. She can’t deal. She doesn't know how to feel or what to say about the father who threw her and her mother’s world into chaos with the scandal that occurred. It’s her sweetie who intercedes, giving her the support she needs even though she’s been suddenly shutting him out. It’s the main story this volume and shows a lot of angst book ended by tender moments for the new couple. The manga has a great sweetheart back story about Macharu’s little sister Misato. She has a huge crush on big brother’s best buddy Atsu, but it seems her standoffish classmate Hiura may be hiding a torch for her. A band recital and some tough moments might open up Misato’s eyes to what is right in front of her.
IN SUMMARY: This manga is way more fun than a barrel of monkeys! Romance fans will go bananas for Monkey High! |
