It’s wild times for the Yakuza gang with a heart of gold in the latest volume of Wild Ones. It al starts with a panty thief. When the members of the Asagi Clan discover a pair of what they assume to be Sachie’s underwear, a series of mishaps and an actual panty thief has her grandfather seeing red and the members of the household either fearing for their lives or wanting to take someone out! It’s all kinds of rambunctious fun and I love that Sachie is never the ‘perils of Pauline’ type. When push comes to shove she flies in there ready for a brawl to take on any wrong doer messing about. Next Sachie wins a trip to an onsen but the whole clan insists on tagging along. The quiet trip turns into a boisterous one because of it. It also proves to be a time for soul searching for both Sachie and Rakuto in regards to their feelings for each other. Sachie is only coming to realize that she considers Rakuto as more than a friend, while Rakuto again feels he must not allow his feelings for Sachie to sway him. Her grandfather’s words about the type of man he wants his granddaughter to be with pierce Rakuto’s heart and cause him to not give in to his true feelings. However, when a strange man takes Sachie hostage, Rakuto must face his doubts and his fear as he races to her rescue. The kidnapping leads to an unusual reunion. Sachie gets to meet the former caretaker who looked after her mother and seems to have a keen interest in Sachie and Rakuto. There are hints as to the relationship with her mother being not dissimilar to what is transpiring between Sachie and Rakuto. It will be interesting to see if there are any secrets there to uncover. It helps to solidify both Sachie and Rakuto’s devotion to each other despite everything being against them. The final chapter of this volume sees the household challenged when a brat named Koh comes to stay with them. The young son of an allied mob boss, everyone is on their best behavior around the kid despite the fact that the kid in question is spoiled and demanding to the extreme. It’s Sachie who tries to reach under the act to get to the lonely kid underneath the attitude. But this one might come with a most unwanted result when she finds herself in an arranged marriage suddenly!
