Two movies in a slick tin case for the price of one. That’s how I love my DBZ goodness. The first film is just that, the very first Dragon Ball Z film ever made – Dead Zone the Movie. It hails back to the Garlic Jr. Saga and has the greeny meanie looking for those Dragon Balls in order to summon the dragon Shenron and have his villainous wishes granted.  It’s all to avenge dear old dad and he even gets so far as to get one of his wishes granted and it will make it harder than ever before for Goku to put him down. And this time little Gohan, Goku’s son, is along for the action! It’s father and son against another father and son relationship in the 41 minute movie.

It has lots of action. Just the way we DBZ fans like it. There’s also some moving dad and son stuff, not only with Goku and Gohan, but also a flashback showing why Junior is so dead set about avenging dear old dad. Speaking of dead, Goku is up against mighty forces when Garlic Jr. unleashes his ultimate weapon, The Dead Zone, a portal that will suck everything into its abyss! With little Gohan on his coat tails, it might be time for the little guy to prove to his muscled pops that this little apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!

The second movie, World’s Strongest, is reportedly set between episodes 39 and 40 of the anime series and runs 59 minutes in length. Dr. Wheelo has been freed thanks to his misguided minion and now he needs a new body (like he wasn’t creepy enough as is?). And not just any body, he wants the world’s strongest fighter. He plows through the Z-Fighters until he spies with his bulgy eye the mightiest one – Goku! It’s a battle where winner takes all - including the Earth! Better hope Goku wins!

The movies get the remastered treatment so the anime is vivid and the sound superb. It’s been digitally restored and widescreen transfer from the original Japanese films plus remastered in high definition. That’s fantastic, especially for the first movie which has some of the coolest looking alien landscapes out of any of the DBZ movies (in my humble opinion). Plus it comes with the choice of original Japanese, original English dubbed with US music, and the revised English dubbed with original Japanese music!

EXTRAS:
Extra punches to this release include trailers of other FUNimation anime and an extra slick looking metal tin for the DVD case that’s oh-so-shiny! Plus there’s commentary on the first movie, The Dead Zone, that will knock you out laughing faster than one of Goku’s punches! It’s with English Director Chris Cason and Chuck Huber (voice of Garlic Jr.).

IN SUMMARY:
Two movies featuring Goku and his son Gohan for some wicked DBZ action remastered and in a cool collectible oh-so-shiny metal case!
