A cursed bloodline opens the door to romance when a mythical and handsome being appears to save Aki from his bloodline’s fate. It’s love, curses, and a magical seduction in this latest yaoi. This is a splendid and creative fantasy romance. Aki is a woebegone fellow with his cursed blood making him more and more sick. Then he stumbles upon the ancestral protector, a handsome man with the ears, tail and eyes of a wolf! He can deliver Aki from his torment but it comes at an unexpected price for Aki when Setsu stays with him and takes liberal advantage of not only Aki’s alcohol cabinet, but also Aki’s body! Aki is quite humorous in his verbal combativeness that he has with Setsu time and again. The more time they spend together, the healthier Aki becomes, and the closer the time comes when Setsu will leave. Aki complains about him, after all, the spirit holds parties at Aki’s house, drinks too much and seduces Aki at every opportunity. Yet somehow Aki feels disheartened at the thought of Setsu going away. His wish is the only thing that keeps Setsu here. But what is the real wish in Aki’s heart? The story is fun, the characters lively, and the imagination all make for an entertaining read from start to finish. There’s even some romance piqued between the supporting characters, Aki’s co-workers that is seen in a little side-story at the end of the manga. The manga also has two other bonus stories. The first involves a troubled and anti-social youth and the young teacher who tries to reach him. The other tale is set in feudal Japan and has harder hitting subject matter about an abused youth who ends up on the doorstep of an engraver. The illustrations in the manga are delightful. The designs are distinct, the mythical Setsu is a lot of fun and quite striking. The more serious bonus stories at the end show some poignant facial expressions and lovely work done there artistically.
IN SUMMARY: Romance gains mythical proportions in this imaginative manga.
