Straight Jacket International Version, a U.S and Japanese co-production will make its world premiere on June 28, 2008 in Roppongi Cinemate in Japan. The movie is based on an ongoing light novel series (10 novels to date) by Sakaki Ichiro (Scrapped Princess, Polyphonica).

Manga Entertainment who worked on Ghost in the Shell, and and T.O Entertainment (Japan)  participated in the overall production of the Straight Jacket.. Animation will be by "feel" and is director by Ushiro Shinji, his directorial debut.

A DVD version was released in Japan in 2007; the international version re-edits all three OVAs into one, and it is slated for special screenings in the US in summer 2008 and an international screening to follow.

The story takes place in a city called Tristan, where both magic and technology thrives. However, if an individual takes advantage of his/her power, the individual transforms into a demon. The "Magic Management Bureau" of Tristan employs "Tactical Magicians" (specialists in exterminating demons) to keep the peace.

One day, there is a series of incidents in which magicians turn into demons. Even regular magicians can't handle them alone. In the middle of this desperate situation, a half-demon girl introduces the magician control officer Nerin Simons to a certain man.

The man's name is Leiott Steinburg, who is a lonely tactical magician. Leiott exterminates the demons with his incredible power. The incident sets off a huge chain of events, which discloses Leiott's past...

Like Afro Samurai, Witchblade, and  Highlander, Straight Jacket is geared towards U.S and international audiences rather than Japanese audiences due to the high volume of action and fighting scenes.
