Team Ja-Pan has made it to the preliminaries of the Monaco Cup where the entire future of their careers and Pantasia rest in their hands and on their shoulders. They give it their all with their usual bumbling and unique flair, but will it be enough against the wiles of Tsukino’s half-sister, the conniving Yukino!

In a place of gambling and high stakes, the team from Japan has to pull out all the stops when cheating and underhanded traps put their backs up against the wall with everything on the line. And each task in the competition is crazier than the last. First they make very unique bread, but can the person they have inside it stay still long enough to not be found out before the competition closes – or he has to go to the bathroom! This particular challenge has humor that runs a bit coarser than what the manga series usually plays with, but it certainly gets the risks at hand across. Next, Azuma does his special magic, and afterwards when all seems lost in the following challenge, it’s Suwabara who uses muscle and quick thinking to hopefully save the day.

During each of the challenges, the bizarre Pierrot presides over them. With each inspiring win, he shares a rather in depth flashback to his past that gives insight into his character but doesn’t make him any less strange. It will be curious to see exactly where they are going with Pierrot as the latest chapters spend a lot of time building him up.

Each challenge during the bread tournament shows exceptional imagination. Every challenge is a completely unexpected and utterly whacky and fantastical obstacle, with equally incredible solutions. It remains creative and fun with that touch of suspense as the group of aspiring bakers strives to save Tsukino’s Pantasia from Yukino’s greedy and envious clutches.

IN SUMMARY:
Things at the Monaco Cup heat up in and out of the oven in the latest volume of Yakitate Japan!
