A sThe latest from Shuffle starts off with a gang buster fan service episode as the gaggle of girls and Rin go to the beach. A Flat Chest Alliance, a topless Asa, a girl in need of swimming lessons, and Rin getting stranded with one of his bevy of adorable ladies is just the start – all before lunch – in this anime that just keeps pouring out the fan service, the romantic comedy, and ends with a twist of angst.

The fun and laughs at the beach end up being quite the headache for Rin upon his return. What transpired between him and Sia at the beach is misinterpreted by everyone and suddenly there’s wedding bells ringing for the shocked couple. A moonlit confession (by someone other than Sia), leaves Rin’s heart pained, but Sia has a confession of her own that changes some of the tension in this harem show. Considering this is the halfway point of the series, it is surprising that the show seems to be paring Rin up so soon with one of the girls. And it definitely seems as though he has made his choice.

The following episode is an interesting split. The first half deals with Mayumi and her misadventures after a day at summer school. She loses her wallet and is forced to wait tables in order to pay off her bill. The alarming problem for her is that while changing into the frilly waitress outfit she didn’t have time to put on the most essential item to a woman’s dignity. One stiff gust of wind and her time at waiting tables might gain her a whole new set of admirers! The second half of the episode is the same story told in the same timeframe but through an entirely different point of view, that of the voluptuous teacher Miss Na.

At the end of this volume which approaches the halfway mark in the series, the episode ends on a dramatic note. Rin learns the truth about Primu when she falls ill. The choice he must make is a hard one and heartbreaking as well.
