Its sci-fi action gone wild and nasty! In the future, there’s reptilian and humans who get along – barely. There’s some crazy new religion called Sacrosanct that has a big chunk of government clout, and there’re a huge pile of bad asses out to that are up to no good. The one good gal in all the muck? Sepulveda (I dare you to say that five times fast!). She’s a mercenary babe and when the big bad busts out of prison (where she put him), it’s payback time on both sides!

Mercenary chicks gone wild! I really wanted to like this original English language manga. Action, hard core language, but it just couldn’t jive into a coherent story. It jumps around, making it too disjointed to follow.  A lot of stuff didn’t make sense to me, and definitely lacked flow. I don’t mind some coarse language, but this was enough in the book to make Pulp Fiction blush. It’s a battle between good and evil but there doesn’t seem to be much good in it, meaning the characters. I counted maybe three good guys for sure and a whole huge mess of bad. It’s juggling a lot of characters and maybe to its detriment. Hopefully the future volumes will fuse this into a coherent whole.

The art style had some buff babes in it and a lot of action. It’s edgy and blocky. My fave character design has to be the cat girl. At the end of the manga is a seriously explicit preview of the hard-core violent Poison Candy to check out as a bonus for readers.

IN SUMMARY:
Heavenshield is about mercenary babes, a lot of foul language and a story that still has to come together coherently.
