The stories come loaded with fan service in this fast paced volume of Hayate the Combat Butler. Hayate was left beat up after his latest foray into combat butling and he has Maria taking extra good care of him. Nagi better watch out because it looks like the maid who has mastered deadpan sarcasm may be stealing Hayate’s heart – and vice versa! The latest volume has a lot of stand alone type chapters. Each is funny, each is zany, and all of it is super fun. A blizzard has the mansion in a blackout and Hayate off to find Ayumi. Instead he ends up with Sakuya and they take shelter from the cold in a hot spring! Oh la la! Hearts on fire doesn’t stop there. Valentine’s Day has everybody going nuts. Hina has to deal with all kinds of girl crushes and ends up having to help out Ayumi who gets up the courage to tell Hayate how she really feels. Love confession! But she isn’t the only one harboring feelings. Maria wants to give some chocolates to Hayate too. Will Nagi catch on to what’s happening under her roof? Hey, but it’s not just Hayate getting some action in the romance department. Kazuki confesses his love to Nagi and they go out on a date! Just what will Hayate have to say about that? When it doesn’t get the reaction Nagi wanted, she gets miffed at her butler who she wants to do more than just the daily chores. Plus there’s the mansion in an uproar when Nagi’s manga frustrated dreams make her decide to get more “experienced” in household chores. And there’s a visit from the always funny to watch demon killing Isumi who is accompanied by the always energetic Sakuya. These two make a hilarious pair of odd couple friends. And of course there are more bonus comic panels and all kinds of extras for added fun in the manga.
