Enter an adventure of wonderful imagination and excitement! Kakashi is a boy who’s always been on his own with only his father’s travel journal to go by. He’s dreamed of leaving the small island he’s lived on to see the world just like his dad has. When a zeppelin shows up, he finds his chance but little did this reckless boy know that he has begun a journey with hidden treasures, bandits, and an army chasing him!

Toto is a story that boasts an ingenious twist on the Wizard of Oz. After a devastating war, humanity had to rebuild itself and has entered a second industrial revolution. It gives the adventure a 1920s backdrop to the fantastic story.  Kakashi is a brave, loyal and utterly impulsive boy who does everything by the seat of his pants, leaving everyone on the edge of their seats. After he stows away on the zeppelin, the airship is overtaken by a group of bandits the likes of which has never been seen. The Man Chicken Family is a gang like none other and young Kakashi faces off with them for astonishing results. With a cute puppy as his only friend, Kakashi often wins people over with his sheer big hearted loyalty and dogged determination. Soon he is joined by a girl named Dorothy (and hence the Oz comparison takes full swing) but she’s nothing like the character Westerners have come to know. She may look sweet and like a little girl from Kansas, but she has martial skills and a fiery temper. Kakashi is the scarecrow of the group with his spindly ways and lack of logic to any choice he makes but he definitely has heart. The three begin a journey to Emerald but are soon set up by the Imperial Army in a fiery trap all because they have something the army wants at any cost. And so the mystery begins.

It’s a richly creative tale with high energy and characters that are both whacky yet oddly noble in their virtues that make you want to cheer for them. It has the exuberance and imagination that fans of One Piece and Naruto will enjoy. The art is dynamic and is different enough in its style and energy to set it apart from the average shonen fare. It has a roaring twenties flair at times mixed with fantasy elements and industrial mechanics. Toto is a pure adventure with appealing characters and a wholly original take on a well known premise. Bonus manga features include translation notes and a preview of the next volume in Japanese.

IN SUMMARY:
Toto! The Wonderful Adventure is truly wonderful indeed! It will appeal strongly to fans of One Piece and Naruto.
